In keeping with the Sunshine Coast Council theme of being a healthy, smart, creative region, the Sunshine Coast Council is facilitating a new international submarine cable landing for South East Queensland by 2020. This game-changing project will transform the Sunshine Coast and open up enormous opportunities for the region. The project will enable Queensland businesses, for the first time, to digitally bypass Sydney and connect direct internationally. This will provide business with a range of new opportunities that come with increased speed and diversity. With this increased attractiveness to live on a more connected Sunshine Coast comes pressure on other services including housing provision. Whilst facilitating more affordable broadband access and investment stimulation creating hundreds of new jobs the Sunshine Coast Council need to be mindful of housing affordability and diversity in housing product to reflect a changing local demographic.
